Please administer allergy medications prior to coming to school, if appropriate. We can give allergy medications at school and please consult medication policy for proper procedure.
We provide cool washcloths to the students in school to help decrease swelling and cool the itching.
What is the Flu? The flu is caused by the influenza virus, which infects the lungs, nose, and throat.
How does the Flu Spread?
- Person to person from coughing or sneezing
- Touching germ-infested areas
What are the common symptoms?
- High fever
- Severe headache
- Muscle and body aches
- Exhaustion
- Dry cough
Staying Healthy
- Vaccination: It’s never too late to get the vaccine, although October and November are the best times. The vaccine takes 2 weeks to become fully effective
- Good Hygiene:
Washing hands with soap and warm water
Covering mouths and noses with tissues when coughing or sneezing
Avoid sharing drinks,water bottles, silverware, or pencils
The CDC suggests parents disinfect frequently-touched objects, such as toys
Parents should keep their sick children home from school until they have been without fever for 24 hours without medication to prevent spreading the illness to others
